For quite some time now, something has stayed with me.
Over a year ago, I shared a post on social media about a gathering at Be Love Give Love and mentioned that people were welcome no matter their background, story, political views, beliefs, or sexual orientation.
Afterward, a woman from the LGBTQ+ community privately reached out and asked me:
"Is it really safe there?"
I was grateful she reached out, but my heart also felt deeply sad that someone would even have to ask that question. I remember feeling the weight behind her question and wondering:
What experiences had she walked through that would make her even need to ask that question?
What had happened in her story?
What pain had she carried?
She never came to the gathering.
And that moment left an imprint on my heart.
Because maybe hearing "you're welcome" and actually feeling safe enough to walk through the door can sometimes be two different things.
Over the years, I’ve heard many stories from individuals in the LGBTQ+ community. I’ve heard stories of hurt, rejection, bullying, shame, not feeling loved, not feeling accepted, not feeling seen, feeling pushed aside, and carrying a deep sense of not feeling safe.
As a life coach, but more importantly as a human being, I’ve always felt a deep pull toward people who are hurting.
Because behind every label is a person.
A person with a story.
A person with a heart.
A person who has laughed and cried and carried things no one else can see.
A person who matters.
I believe every one of us is made in the image of God. And I also believe we are called to love... everyone... even when we may believe differently.
That is my belief.
That is my heart.
My heart is to love people deeply and meet them exactly where they are.
I don’t push people aside because no matter your story...
your beliefs...
your background...
the color of your skin...
who you love...
or who you voted for...
YOU ARE WELCOME HERE
AT BE LOVE GIVE LOVE.
You are SAFE here.
You are SEEN here.
You MATTER here.
You BELONG here.
Here, walls come down and hearts come together.
And I think that's part of why this gathering matters so much to me.
You Belong Here is a peaceful evening created specifically for the LGBTQ+ community.
If you’ve ever felt unseen...
unheard...
unsafe...
rejected...
unaccepted...
pushed aside...
or like you've had to hide pieces of yourself...
I want you to know this:
Come exactly as you are.
This will be a peaceful evening with optional experiences to participate in if you choose — sound bath, nurturing touch, color me calm, light refreshments, and a space to connect with others, breathe easier, feel safe, receive, and return to peace.
My hope is that you leave feeling a little lighter and carrying with you one simple reminder:
You are loved. ♥️
